Job Description

You will work with sales team and pre-sales team to discuss and integrate cloud solutions across existing platforms.   This will include new customer cloud implementations, assisting customers in their cloud journey and developing business relationships that drive additional revenue.


  • Assess and select cloud providers and third-party services for customers.
  • Identify cloud architecture solutions to successfully meet the needs of the customer.
  • Offer guidance in cloud migration techniques including bulk application transfers into the cloud.
  • Work closely with customers to lead them through the cloud adoption process and establish best practices.
  • Design data and applications architectures.
  • Identify and implement cloud automation tools.
  • Run assessments (security, architecture best practices, cost analysis, etc..) for existing customer workloads and provide remediation assistance.
  • Lead cloud scoping discussions, generate technical solutions, estimates and implementation approaches.
  • Implement all aspects of customer cloud environment including provisioning, scaling, network connectivity, security and monitoring.
  • Assisting customers with hybrid cloud solutions such as VMWare cloud on AWS, Azure, etc. 
  • Develop cloud DR solutions.
  • Assist customers with extending current datacenters into the cloud.


  • BA/BS degree or equivalent experience
  • 3+ or more years of IT implementation experience
  • Experience driving public cloud discussions with senior personnel regarding trade-offs, best practices, project management and risk mitigation
  • Experience with software development life cycle (SDLC) and agile/iterative methodologies required
  • Scripting and/or coding skills
  • Ability to travel to client locations when needed.
  • Extensive knowledge of AWS, Azure or Google Cloud Platform.One or more cloud certifications preferred.
  • Strong track record of implementing cloud services in a variety of distributed computing environments
  • Leading highly available and fault-tolerant enterprise and web-scale software deployments
  • Large scale migration experience Data Center to Data Center and/or Data Center to Cloud
  • Infrastructure automation through DevOps scripting (E.g. shell, Python, Ruby, Powershell)
  • Configuration management using CloudFormation, Chef & Puppet
  • Knowledge of cloud container services and management platforms including but not limited to Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Strong practical Linux and Windows-based systems administration skills in a Cloud or Virtualized environment
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges
  • Positive attitude and a strong commitment to delivering quality work.
  • Excellent knowledge of cloud computing technologies and current cloud trends.
  • Effective communication skills (written and verbal) to properly articulate complicated cloud reports to management and other IT development partners.

You will join a team of experienced architects and engineers, providing objective expertise and implementation services on IT products, industry best practices, proven methodologies and emerging architectures around a variety of IT challenges. 

As a Technical Consultant you will act as part of a Professional Services team, work productively with other Consultants, Architects, Project Managers, Pre-Sales, and other internal & external resources to ensure that the customer succeeds in their objectives. The Technical Consultant is responsible for delivering individual project consulting and technical expertise in data center infrastructure systems, integrations and data migration for IPDS projects throughout the project lifecycle. You will represent IPDS, successfully delivering solutions and services to demonstrate the IPDS value proposition to the customer. You will work on projects/assignments ranging from basic to complex in scope leveraging technical and industry best practices and proven IPDS methodologies to deliver project tasks. 


 Sales Support and Services Opportunity Management 

  • Provide technical support for proof of concepts and demonstration/prototypes 
  • Provide input into, and generate documentation, to support effort estimates, and/or customer response documentation/Statement of work (SOW) 
  • Provide marketing of IPDS to customers through engagement and interaction 
  • Perform intelligence gathering for sales and service opportunities while engaging with customers, partners and vendors 

Customer Engagement & Relationship Management 

  • Maintain effective relationships with vendors, customers, and technical peers to support effective delivery 
  • Under guidance and in line with project processes and messaging, interact with the customer to support the management of customer expectations and support customer satisfaction 
  • Manage stakeholders’ expectations 
  • Provide information and feedback to internal or external customers in a timely, accurate and appropriate manner, as required by defined project activities, ensuring that key messages are communicated effectively 

Project Delivery 

  • Delivery individual project consulting and technical expertise in systems infrastructure, integrations and data migration for IPDS projects throughout the project lifecycle (including infrastructure/ performance/ migration and/or integration/testing/deployment/production support/post implementation support) in order for the solution to be delivered successfully and provide value to the customer 
  • Understand the context of the customer project, key deliverables and engagement methods 
  • Understand the work breakdown for the assigned work stream, any associated project plan, its relationship to other work streams and the overall customer solution 
  • Provide support for estimation of time frames, work package breakdown, capability definitions required to successfully implement the project 
  • Provide accurate and timely information to technical team lead or project management team 
  • Contribute to the generation of relevant level of project support documentation in line with IPDS Project Management Methodology and customer expectations 
  • Support the review of technical implementation experiences with project delivery team, capturing and sharing lessons learnt as part of the project review and close activities 
  • Effectively comply with project change management rules for the project 

Solution Delivery 

  • Work with Pre-Sales engineers to scope, design and or enhance project deliverables 
  • Understand customer’s business goals, objectives and needs and the general business environment 
  • Work with the Infrastructure or Technical Architect to support Architecture tasks 
  • Perform infrastructure design and sizing tasks using available tools for new deployments and upgrades under guidance of Architect 
  • Execute performance analysis, tuning, baseline performance analysis, and monitoring activities for customer deployments under guidance of Architect 
  • Install and configure common operating systems, database solutions using installation / configuration best practices as part of integration and migration lifecycle 
  • Install and configure Storage systems 
  • Support the data migration activities for legacy data and systems 
  • Install and configure VMware solutions; data center virtualization, HCI, VDI, operation and automation solutions 
  • Develop test strategies/plans and perform testing activities, reporting results and resolving issues 
  • Support knowledge transfer (deliver product training, user guides, coaching of users etc.) in order to facilitate customer staff development and satisfaction with implemented tasks and technologies 

Knowledge Sharing/Reuse and Practice Participation 

  • Actively collaborate and share experiences to support organizational knowledge sharing 
  • Author/contribute to the documentation of standards, processes, and policies related to deployment of technical solutions 
  • Maintain an understanding of latest technical and industry trends, transfer knowledge into innovative solution practices 
  • Keep up to date with Best Practices and methods within own area of specialism, and apply these in everyday role 


  • United States citizenship required. 
  • BS/BA in related discipline or equivalent combination of experience and education 
  • Three (3) or more years of experience in a substantial subset of the listed responsibilities 
  • Experience specific to Data center Infrastructure build and deployment activities including products and solutions form DellEMC, Cisco, VMware, Nutanix, Commvault, Microsoft, Linux, and others, 
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to converse with and explain technical concepts with all levels of management and customers with varying skill levels 
  • Ability to work under self-management on routine assignment/projects and light supervision on new assignment/projects 
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 75% to appropriate work locations within the DMV region, as required by IPDS or specified by the customer pursuit/project. Some national and international travel as required. 
  • Willingness and availability to work the core hours required by IPDS or specified by the customer project and company policies 
  • Individual must possess a valid Driver’s license in good standing 
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. of equipment 

Desirable Certifications 

  • Dell Technologies Implementation Engineer – 1 or more platforms 
  • Cisco CCNA or greater 
  • VMware VCP or greater 
  • ITIL 4 
  • MCSE
